The Standard AND PEOPLE'S ADVOCATE. (PUBLISHED EVERY WEDNESDAY AND SATURDAY.)

"We shall sell to no man justice or right: We shall deny to no man justice or right: We .hall defer to no man justice or right.”
We regret that the limited space at our disposal, consequent on the arrival of the English and other mails, precludes us from making any lengthened remarks on the Celtic Meeting held at Ormond on Wednesday evening last. A full report of the proceedings, and the supper that followed, will be found in our present issue, a perusal of which will abundantly testify to the complete success that has waited on the labors of this small band of enthusiastic, patriotic Highlanders. As the primary object of subscribing funds towards the endowment of a Celtic Chair, was most warmly advocated, and liberally subscribed to, we are glad to see that steps have been taken for the purpose of forming a Celtic Club, to keep alive, as it were, the good work so auspiciously begun ; and one feature in connection with the projected Club (whjch should commend itself to favorable consideration) is, that it will be of a purely non-sectarian character. We believe it will be open to all alike, quite irrespective of creed or color, a liberal provision which caunot fail to secure universal support. We shall revert to the subject again, in due season, and, in the meantime, congratulate our Gaelic friends on the success so far achieved.
