COMMERCIAL

London, August 24. From the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile AeeiiCT Company’s Circular, we take the following :—Wool: The third series of colonial wool sales for the present year commenced on the 17th inst. The attendance of both home and foreign buyers was good, and the biddings fairly spirited, but the prices realised did not equal the closing rates of the previous auctions by Id to Ifd per lb, in the case of scoured and fleece wools from the Australian colonies, and id to Id in greasy and Capes. Succeeding auctions have not shown any quotable improvement on this decline. The heaviest variation from previous rates occurs in the case of New South Wales, New Zealand and Tasmanian fleece wools, including half-breds, the fluctuations in these instances amounting to fully li per lb, and occasionally more. Greasy wools, on the other hand, can hardly be stated at more than Id down, and in the case of good Victorian descriptions scarcely so much. Parcels of a good combing type from that colony show, in consequence of their comparative scarcity, less difference than any other kind of Australian wool, but those in scoured condition share the decline with produce similarly treated from the neighboring colo,,ie ’’ August 26. Albert Cohn and Co., merchants, of No. 17, Qld Change, have suspended. The liabilities

are stated st 609,000d01. Mr M. R- Miller reports flint at his land sale yesterday the following estates, the property of R. D. Maney, Esq., were disposed of :—The Pnkowhai estate, 5275 acres, freehold, and 562 acres, leasehold, with 7000 sheep, sold to Henry Nairn, Esq., of Te Apeti, for the sum of £14,300. Te Kapu estate, sold to William Couper, Esq., of Havelock, 4677 acres, averaging 35s 6d per acre. Napier 13th October.
