POUND MEETING.

A meeting of Ratepayers was held at the Chandos Hotel, Ormond, on Thursday evening last, The Chairman of the Road Board having read Se advertisement calling the meeting, r. Barrie was efected to the Chair. Aftersome discussion Mr. J. Villers proposed— That a Public Pound jbe erected in the Ormond district.* Seconded by Mr. Williams. An amendment proposed by Mr. Maynard, seconded by Mr. Bidgood— That a Pound was not required, was loe by a majority of two for the motion. Proposed by Mr .J. Villers— That the Pound be in the Ormond township. Seconded by Mr. Williams. • An amenendment proposed by Mr. Maynard, seconded by Cgptain Gudgeon— That the Pound be erected at Kaitaratahi, was lost by a majority of one for the motion. Proposed by Mr. Barrie— That the Pound be not erected for the next twelve months. • Seconded by Mr. Bidgood. An amendment, proposed by Mr. McCaffery, seconded by Captain Gudgeon— That the Pound be erected at once, was lost by a majority of six for the motion. The proposer of the last resolution remarked that as there were so few Ratepayers present, the proceedings would likely prove a source of ilk feeling in the neighborhood. A vote of thanks to the Chairman was passed and the business was concluded.
