THE SISTERS DUVALLI.
Wi were very much pleased to find that the performances of these ladies at the Music Hall, on Monday night, gave the lie direct to the maligning reports which have been so industriously circulated by a few persons, to the effect that their exhibitions were “ indecent," and so forth. We speak of actresses, and singers, and dancers, as we do of mankind generally, namely as we find them, and it affords us great pleasure to state that the programme on Monday night contained nothing that the most fastidious could cavil at, or over which the severest stoic could not rejoi • . The pieces put upon the stage were light, sparkling, aud vivacious, abounding in wit, and humorous repartee ; the dialogues being maintained with great spirit, kept the audience in a state of intense delight from the rise of the curtain to its fall. The dancing of the Sisters Duvalli is decidedly of a superior style, such, indeed, as is never seen performed, except by really good artistes, and it is a pleasing feature in their performances that they devote a goodly portion of the evening to this, by far the most excellent, portion of the entertainment. Lovers of Terpsichorean grace, combined with the most artistic and airy development of the beauties of the ballet, should not lose so rare an opportunity as now presents itself of an evening’s thorough enjoy intent. The singing capabilities of the company, are, by no means, great, although what qi done is pleasing, and the ladies have the best of it in this department as well. Messrs. Coutts and Hall are capital in their line, as comedians, and rendered their parts to the satisfaction of a crowded audience, whose continued plaudits were sufficient proofs of their appreciation of the performance. Miss Terlecki presided at the pianoforte during the evening, and exhibited a manipulation that stamped her as a performer far removed from mediocrity. Another crowded house greeted the company last night. An entire change of performance is announced for to-night.
