Boat Club. —We would again remind members of the meeting to-night at lhe Masonic Hotel.

James Brooks announces that he has began business as a carter and Road Contractor in Gisborne.

Divine Services —The Bev. W. H. Root will (D.V.) hold Divine Service at Ormond in the morning at 11 a.m., at Matawhero in the afternoon at 2.30 p.m., and St. Andrew’s Church Gisborne in the evening at 7 p.m The sermon in the evening will have special reference to lhe recent sudden deaths in the district. The Rev. G. W. Russell will also hold Divine Service morning and evening in the Music Hall, and at Makauri in the afternoon at the usual hours.

Nomination of Assessors. —Tn a recent General Government Gazette we notice that Henare Potae and Rapata Wahawaha have been nominated Assessors to assent to the issue of Licences under the “ Outlying Districts Sale of Spirits Act, 1874," for the Waiapu District; also, a proclamation by the Governorto the effect that Assessors appnii ted for any outlying district under the “ Outlying Districts Sale of Spirits Act, 1870.” shall sit and act with the Licensing Court included in such district.
