London, December 4. The Spanish attitude in regard to the Virginia filibusters is supported by the European press. Russia proposes to expend a million upon the Royal marriage. Competition at the wool sales continues fairly brisk. Prices are a half-penny to a penny lower ; Ca;>es are most affected. Continental buyers are operating cautiously. The bombardment of Carthagena has commen ed.

The wool sales opened on the 27th. 50,000 bales have arrived, Sydney and Cape preponderating. More home than foreign buyers were present, and the usual eagerness generally observable on the opening day was absent. The prices ranged the same as at the last sales, excepting for Cape wools.
