Supreme Court.—Duncan Fraser was brought tip for judgment on Saturday last. In passing sentence Hii Honor, Mr. Justice Johnston, addressing the prisoner said, he “ was very sorry for him, because he did not believe that he was naturally a bud man. He had, however, egregiously broken the law of the land, and offences of the nature of which he had been guilty must be put down with a strong hand. He would pass an extremely light sentence upon him, and when he came out of prison, he (the learned judge) hoped his fellow-settlers would not. look down upon him. His sentence was that he should be imprisoned for 9 calendar months.”
