DEED OF CESSION COURT.
Gisborne, November 22, 1873.
[Before Mr. Commissioner Monro, (Chairman),
and Mr. Commissioner Rogan. Mb. Locke Crown Agent appeared for certain persons representatives of the tribes named in the Deed of Cession, and applied that the remainder of the Ceded Block, not granted, bo handed back to Te Ai tanga a Mahaki, Rongowhakaata, Ngaitahupo, & Rongowhakaata Ngatikahungunu. The Court asked for an expression of opinion from the natives assembled, and it was assured by many of the leading chiefs that all persons interested fully concurred in this step being taken. An Order was therefore made in accordance with Mr. Locke’s application. The Court adjourned to Monday. Monday, November 24. The Court was occupied the whole day taking evidence as to who were hauhaus and included in the Waihau Block. Some six names were struek out, and the Order amended accordingly. This having concluded all the business of the Commission the Court then cldtecd.
