ROAD HOARD.

Saturday, 14th June, 1873. The Board met at eleven o’clock. Present:—Messrs. Poynter, Johnson, Wcstrup, and Parsons. The minutes of previous meetings were read and confirmed. Letters received:—From Dr. Nesbitt enclosing minutes of Public meeting, and requesting the Board to forward them to the Superintend 1 ent. From Mr. Drummond in reference to works in progress. From Mr. Daly asking permission to cut some limbs from the willow tree on the river bank. Not allowed. Tenders received : — For works in Derbystreet , W. Hume, £3O. Sureties Bedford Sherriff, A. Blair, tender accepted. For constructing a drain from Main Road to French Bob’s corner, and widening and deepening the side drains : —J. Brown, Smith and Wilson, J. Kilkolly, M. Boland, W. C. Walsh; the latter of which was accepted for the sum of £33 15s, for main drain, and cutting side drains at 6s 6d per chain. For building a culvert on the road to Ormond t —M. Boland, Smith and Wilson, W. C. Walsh; the latter was accepted for £lB 15s. For outlet drain only—John Dick. The following Accounts were passed:—Mr. G. Scott, for repairing approach to ford, £3. Mr. Daly, for spreading shingle, ss. J. Box, for outlet drain to Waikanae £ll 3s Bd. Craig and Smith, for completion of contract E., £56 12s. G. Young, fdr Ferry service to 13th April, 1873, £lO. Dinwiddie, Morrison and Co., for advertising, 13s 6d. . * A. Parnell, for sundries, £1 2s 9d. H. E. Webb, for printing and advertising, £l4 10s 6d.

Received £l5 from the contribution of the settlers for the road from Oweta Pah to the Karawa Bridge. On the representation of Major Westrup, Mr. Skeet was instructed to examine the road to the Karawa Bridge. Mr. Taylor saw the Board on the bad state of the approaches to the culvert in Bright-steeet. To be’enquired into. Messrs. Robjohns and Co. applied to the Board requesting that their Engineer should supervise the erection of a verandah on the main street. *
