ROAD BOARD.
>. Saturday, 10th May, 1878. Board met at 12 o’clock. Poynter (chairman), King, and Johnson. ■ z i . , * -y—--read and confirmed. — Letter* received—Froth Mr, Webb offering explanation as to the delay in submitting his accounts as Secretary to the Road Board to tflo Auditors. The Board sent a letter in reply stating that they did not consider his explanation satisfactory, and inviting him to personal interview, which Mr. Webb declined : but promising that the accounts should be ready for the Auditors by Hext Saturday.* From Takatflka, Riperata Kahutiha, and others, objecting to the proposed road from the Makauri Biush to the Tcrulieru Stream. The Board instructed the Engineer to examine and report on the truth of the natives’ statatement, with regard to the depth of the water at the proposed new landing place ori the proposed new road.
An offer from Oliver Goldsmith, to fascine the . approaches to the Waipaoa Ferry, was ordered to be laid over till next meeting. Complaints having been laid before theßoard of the state of the Waipaort Ferry, and the Board considering they are well-founded, hereby notify that all the running gear and appliances must be in periact, working order within one week. Accounts—Mr. Stubbs account, £1 2s, was passed. .. Captain Read’s account, £ , was passed.
