LETTERS TO’ THE EDITOR.

THE-DOG NUISANCE.

SlK;—I went down this morning with' my dog on purpose to have him registered) bat, while I was engaged in town the dog, followed another person down to Captain Read’s store, and on his return was seized by that indefatigable Officer O'Donohue. Twas in vain my representing that I took the dog down for the purpose of registration; the dog must go to “chokey;” and Imusi pay ten shillings, five of which I suppose to bp for the trouble of taking him to “ chokey.” and the balance, I . suppose is for a little brass ticket with a* number on it, worth about 3|d. In other places a dog collar with brass ticket is usually given for this sum. It is my opinion that this nuisance requires abatement. ■ 1 I am, sir, Yours, W. S. Greene. PS. —What department, pray, makes the profit out of this ?—W. 3. G-.

THE EDUCATION NUISANCE.

Sib, —This morning in settling a tuition account with Mr. Lysnar for my two boys extending over a period of five months (during half of which they did not attend school) I noticed a small item of seven shillings for pens and ink. Now if all are charged at this rate, the vendor must make a good thing of it. In my opinion this nuisance also requires abatement. I am sir, Yours,,, W. 8. Greene P.S.—lf this is the standard charge the least he can do is to rettirn the old pens and handles.—W. S. G.
