The Hawkes Bay Herald reports that “the ■ ».<». Star of the South is under offer for purchase or charter to the Auckland Steam Packet Co., who intend to employ her,- if obtained, on the Fiji aervine. Should they not come to terms with Messrs. 'Houghton and Co., we believe, there is every probability of her being rc-char-tered, for another eight or nine months, for the Auckland and Napier trade. Her present ■ charter expires on the 13th prox. In the event of her being purchased or chartered by the Auckland company, her place on this coast will be taken by the p.s. Comerang.
