CREDITORS MEETING.

The first meeting of creditors in the estate of J J, Robinson was held ou Monday last, pursuant to notice. Only three creditors who had duly proved their claims being present. _ The Deputy Official Assignee, Mr WHE Wanklyn, presided. The schedules of assets and liabilities were read, and the bankrupt’s statement, on oath to the Deputy Official Assignee, as follows ; I have been in Patea since the Ist of July last, before that I was in busi ness in Wanganui as a draper. I sold out of the drapery business toNicliolis and Boundy for about £ISOO, that amount went to pay my liabilities, with the exception of some book debts £2O of which I have received When I took the hotel from Hurley I had no money. I had an interest in a house at Napier, which I valued at £250. I did not get anything out of it. The property is in my name, and mort gaged to Mrs Moore in England, and a second mortgage to Harcourt and Co of Wellington I took over the stock and furniture at the Albion Hotel under a Bill of sale to Mo Oarthy and Young. I have put in about" £ls worth of furniture, and, spent £5 in reparing the other furniture. I have a gold watch chain and ring, which are worth about £ls, I did not put these things down in my schedule because I did not think it necessary. Neither my wife nor myself have any money, neither have avb any expectations. I attribute my bankruptcy to insufficient capital coupled Avilh bad business. The assets and liabilities were as follows

I had no capital, -but I had assistance when I came to the Albion. Since I have been in Patea, I have purchased goods in Patea, and paid for them as far as I was able. I have no money nor promissory notes in my possession. I j have nor had a promissory note from 1 Haughtea since X came into the hotel (

I brought no other f uniture than the pier glass and sewing machine from Wanganui, and I have taken none out of it. I remember the time the b ilifE ,v s in for rent. I have not p.y'd anyone since then. At the close of the examination, a resolution was passed, on the motion of Mr McKenna seconded by *Mr Gower, requiring a public examination of the debtor-. ,
