Mr Bryce’s petition against the election of Mr Hutchison, wvs lodged with the returning officer, Mr Litiiton, on Thursday last by Messrs Fitzherbcrt and Marshall. The general committee of the exhibition meets on Wednesday evening at Mr Horners office at half-past seven, when reports of subcommittees are expected to be in. A telegram Torn Wanganui Herald’s Ilawera correspondent says that Mr McGuire’s friends have asked him to petition against Major Atkinson’s election on the grounds of corrupt practices. Tho Manaia Road Bond, in response to advertisement, received thirty-three apphc-.i-t’ons for the position of Cleric and Engineer. Tuo present engineer was appointed. The salary is £225 per annum. Nominations for the triennial election of County Councillors, are notified elsewhere, to be in by Wednesday, the Dth piox. Nine councillors are wanted, live for the A'avedey side, and four for the Kakaramea side.
