KILLED BY A SHARK.

A shocking death through the attack of a shark occurred in the Parramatta River, near Sydney, a few days before Christmas, the victim being Mr Cuthbert Vere Lysaght, a young gentleman 21 years of age, who had not been more than nine months in the colony. Ho was bathing in the river at about midday near the galvanised iron works at Blackwall Point, of which he was the manager, the only other persons near hj i pi., beiiig. Hr Lysaght, while swimming in the stream, was seen to disappear, and, as was .p.ipyed by an examination of the body, which was recovered four honrs afterwards, he had been seized by a shark. The flesh was stripped off the arm, side, and thigh, and the body was also mutilated about the stomach. The father of the deceased is on his way to the colony by the mail' steamer Carthage.
