NARROW ESCAPE OF THE HAWEA.
Telegraphing from New Plymouth yesterday, the Herald's correspondent says:—The Hawea yesterday narrowly escaped being wrecked on Bell Block reef, where the Rnngitira foundered. There was a dense fog at the time, and but for a signal from the shore, the Hawea would, in five minutes from the lime of the signal, have been on the rocks.
