A deputation Availed on Major Atkin, son last night urging that more survey parties should be engaged exploring country for the trunk line to Auckland, ns it wns impossible for one or two parlies.to get through the work properly, during the short 'time the weather allowed the exploration ofbnsh country,. He promised to communicate with the Survey Department. It is reported that some Imlmlent natives met Mr Carkeek inland,uand threatened violence to him or any other surveyors who should be met with.
