WAIROA HIGHWAY BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday, sth inst. Present, Messrs lon, Symcs, Howie, Nicholson, and Williamson. Mr Walter Symes was elected Chairman of the Board. Treasurer’s balance—General account, £217 6s lid ; D.P. Block VIII, £95 14s 7d ; Block IX, £ll 9s 6d ; Block 111, £6 4s lOd ; Block IV (Omahiui), £4 17s 6d ; Block 11, £3 8s 7d. Correspondence was road from Sur-veyor-General stating that a request had been forwarded to Sir W. Fox to reserve a right of road through Sec 15 Block VIII ,* also that there were no funds available for a grant towards opening the road from Sec 66, Okotuku, to the township of Kichardson. From R. Garrett with report on certain roads laid off by him, also enclosing plan of same. From A. Milne re money advanced towards opening Okotuku Road. From Patea County Council fixing day of first meeting of Board. From Whenuakura-Waitotara Road Board asking Board to appoint a deputation to meet their Board, also requesting a statement of accounts between the two Boards. From J. Hughes re extra work done by him. From G. O’Reilly re Block 8 road. The Foreman of Works handed in his report stating that J. Hughes had finished repairing Lower Kohi Bridge and had done some extra work on Taylor’s hill. T Bourne had finished the Kohi road formation and had put two culverts in same. Seaton, had removed slips off Motuwhero road, ; and O’Reilly had repaired road at back of Richardson township. Davis was working at the clearing and ploughing on Walkintbn road, and' T. Bourne had started ploughing Hearn and Kennedy’s road. The new cutting at Richardson had not been repaired on account of the bad weather. Resolved—“ That the plan of road through section 2, block VIII, be forwarded to Government at once.” “ That the foreman of works get necessary repairs done on road to block VIII provided cost not exceeds £5.” “ That the foreman of works get necessary repairs done to the two culverts on road near Nicholson’sj Whenuakura.” “That the Chairman and Messrs Nicholson and Bridge be a deputation to arrange with Whenuakura-Waitotara Road Board re settlement of accounts, to meet that Board on Saturday, 19lh inst, at 3 p.m.” 1 The following accounts were passed,for payment:—A Milne, £ls 5s ; 6 O’Reilly, ■ £3 ; D Taylor, £2 12s 6d ; F P Fookea, £7 8s 9d ; E G Ross, £6 13s ; J Hughes, £l9 4a ; T Bourne, £22, 12s 6d ; H. F Mason, £ll 3s 6d ; G C Ross, £5 ss. Messrs TNicholson and W Dickie, junr., waited on the Board re sundry roads. Resolved, “ That Mr Garrett be instructed to continue the deviation from Block YIII Bridge, round creek till it meets Block IX road, and to include same in plan required for deed of exchange with Mr Nicholson. It was also resolved, “ That the necessary deed of exchange with Mr Nicholson be prepared. The Board then adjourned.
