DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES.
* TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Would you kindly allow me space in your columns for a few words in reference to the foot note of the letter signed “ Pro Bono Publico.” I am convinced that you have been entirely misinformed with regard to orizes having been awarded according to the results of the Inspector’s Examination, as the reverse is the sole cause of so much dissatisfaction. Would it be too much to ask your informant to produce a list of the children who received prizes, and the order of merit in which they were awarded, also the value of the different prizes for each standard. As the general public have ever generously patronised any thing connnected with the school, such information as I ask would be gladly received by the majority of parents, as also the pupils themselves, and, I am sure, all concerned would willingly submit to the decision of the Inspector. Trusting that this matter will be fully ventilated.—l am, &c., Patea, Jan 2. Alpha. [The prize list and number of marks obtained were published in the Mail of Dec 21. We do not think we have been “ entirely misinformed ” with regard to the way the prizes are awarded. Let our correspondent state a specific case, and we will deal with it.— -Ed ]
