ATTEMPTED MURDER.

At Auckland, on Friday, William Henry Jones, the manager of the Onehunga Iron Sand Works, attempted to murder John M'Derrnott. It appears that the two had a quarrel over cards in a public-house. Jones went home and got a revolver, firing two shots at M'Derrnott as he passed on horseback, one of which took effect in the middle of his back, passing ont of his arm, and the other in the leg. It is not yet known whether the'wound will prove fatal or not.
