American towns are becoming more go-ahead than ever. At the present time there is a town in Dakota, happy in the fantastic name of Devil’s Lake, which is not yet 150 days old. Yet in this short life of less than six months, it has already produced seven large hotels, two banka, two local journals, and a great many shops and factories, while fine lots in the neighbourhood are being rapidly got rid of nt the rate of 2000 dollars apiece.
