NEW ZEALAND MEAT IN LONDON
The English markets continue to be well supplied with New Zealand mutton, and its popularity as “colonial meat” is extending. Butchers are not afraid now to sell it under its proper nance ; in fact, they find it advantageous to do so, the repeat orders being very numerous. Passing through the Leadenhall Market the other day our attention was attracted by a number of little bills on the shop counter of Mr John S.' Fitter, who has taken a large quantity of the meat per Catalonia. The circulars contained the prices for the different parts of the sheep, and it 'will bo of some interest to our readers if we quote these, ns showing the rates' Obtained by the retail butcher :—Sheep ©r sides, 7£d per lb ; hind quarters, 9d ; fore quarters, 7d ; legs with necks, B£d ; legs with breasts, B£d ; legs, lOd ; saddles, B£d ; loins, B£d ; shoulders, B£d; shoulders with necks, 7£d ; shoulders with breasts, 7£d , necks 7d ; breasts, 5d per lb. —European Mail.
