APPEAL COURT.

|pEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.]

WELLINGTON, This day.

At the Appeal Court this morning, in the case Fnch v Union Steamship Company, the Court affirmed the decision of the Supreme Court at Christchurch in granting a new trial. Judge Gillies dissented. In the case Crown t. Scanlon, Auckland, their Honours said they found great difficulty in coming to a decision, owing to the absence of certain particulars in the case stated. Their Honours deferred giving judgment until receiving a report from Justice Gillies. The Court then adjourned until 6th March, when they meet in Christchurch, and judgments will be given in Hunt v Gordon, and Crown y Scanlon.
