THE OPERA AT WAVERLEY.

(From a Correspondent.) The Stanley and Derbyshire Opera Bouffe and Pantomime Company performed at Waverley last night to a good house. The performance was the best by far with which we have been favoured and the programme was carried ont with a fidelity, which was, to regular frequenters, surprising under the circumstances. The company is composed of young artistes, and the piece put on was Les Cloches de Corneville. The characters wer.e sustained throughout without flagging, and it was evident that no time nor trouble had been spared in training the youngsters. Among the most prominent were Lerpoletti, by Miss A. Hodge, who performed her part to the life. Master Willie Driscoll as Gaspard, showed an apprecia* tion of the character that surprised the oldsters, and Mastered. Favarger as the Baillie, was simply immense. All the other prominent characters were well sustained, and I have no doubt, had the quality of this company been known, they would have been greeted with a bumper house. Our Patea friends should attend in force, when they will find the performance will considerably exceed their expectations. The band, which is under the leadership of Herr Braun, late leader of (he Austrian band in Victoria, whose wore engaged for the Melbourne Exhibition, was all that could be desired, and was appreciated by the audience.
