ANOTHER BOAT ACCIDENT AT NAPIER.

THREE MEN DBOWMED. [per PRESS ASSOCIATION] ; NAPIER, This day. A sad boat accident which resulted in the death of three men occurred last evening. Capt Setten of the ship Pleiades, now lying in the bay with a crew of four men came ashore for the first mate. There was a nasty ripping sea on the bar but the boat arrived safely and started to return with a crew of six persons, ' A nasty sea was running but the Captain gave orders to start. On the bar a sea struck tbe.boat broadside on and capsized her. Kraeft and Captain Tonquinof the barque Langstone Immediately, started .to the rescue and the pilot’s boat was on the scene of' the accident within three minutes. Only three, men (the Captain and two A.B.s were saved, the first and third mate and one able seaman being drowned. Following are the names of crew ot boat which capsized Capt. Setten, C. A., Stevens, chief officer, L. O. Veitcb, third officer, T. Kerr, J. L. Grey, seamen, and A. H. Kirby,^ apprentice, all of the ship Pleiades. Ca P“ tain Setten dung to the overturned boat, and Kirby secured the boats mast, the seaman Grey and first mate clung to the oar. The mate clutching tfic handle, and Grey the blade clenched in his teeth, and swimming strongly in the endeavour to save himself- and his companion. When the boat was within a few yards of Grey and his companion a wave swept the latter away/ and he was never seen afterwards. Capt Setten had first become unconscious when ho was pulled into the boat.
