A THREAT AND ITS CONSEQUENCES.

At (he R. M. Court yesterday, Thos. Wright was charged on the information of William Wilson with using threatening and abusive language towards him in the shape of threatening to “ knock his brains out,” ami as “ Billy” had no desire of his brains being removed from their natural position he accordingly sought to hare the doughty Thomas bound over to keen the peace towards him. The. defendant denied using the words imputed to him, but stated that on account of missing his fowls and suspecting Wilson guilty of the robbery, ho had threatened to make it a caution to him if he ever caught him in the act. From “ Billy’s ” evidence it appeared that Wright had already made it a caution to him, having one night stabbed him over the eye, then knocked him down and administered a kick on the chest that placed him hors de cotnhat for a week or so. Wright, on being taxed with this deed denied its being of such an aggravated character, bnt staled that possibly be “ might have given ‘ Billy ’ a shove.” Not content with uttering the above sanguinary threat, the defendant had abused Mrs Wilson in a disgraceful manner, according to the prosecutor’s evidence, and was also in the habit of making a thoroughfare of his (Wilson’s) section.

His Worship decided to bind the defendant over to keep the peace for six months in the sum of ten pounds.
