WANGANUI A. AND P. ASSOCIATION’S SHOW
The annual show in connection with the Wanganui Agricultural and Pastoral Association, was held yesterday on the racecourse reserve. The afternoon was almost universally observed as a holiday in Wanganui,’ and despite the wretched weather a large number of people were on the ground. _ A falling off in the number of exhibits from previous shows was noticeable.: _ This is attributed to the small inducement in the way of prizes offered by the Association, some exhibitors complaining that the incitement to show is 1 utterly incommensurate with the W expense incurred in so doing. A new feature in connection with the show was the exhibition by Mr Stent of several Shropshire Downs sheep, which received great praise from the judges. The Hon Sec, Mr F. R. Jackson, and Mr J. J. Crawford, together with the stewards, did all in their power to make the show a success. Several of tha settlers on this part of the coast carried off honours in the various classes they exhibited in.
