LONDON, Sept, 17.

The cargo of frozen meat by the steamship Cuzco, from Sydney, arrived in good condi* tion.

The cargo of mutton by the ship Opawa, from Bluff, arrived in good condition, but the quality is inferior to previous shipments. The first' portion of the cargo was sold to-day at 6£d fo 6fd. News is to hand that the ship St. Leonards, bound to New Zealand with emigrants, foundered in the Channel after collision with another vessel. All the passengers and crew of the St. Leonards have been landed at Dartmouth.

The St. Leonards foundered off Dartmouth, and was only a day out, having sailed on the 15th inst. The vessel with which she canoe into collision was the Cormorant. It is - feared that the latter is severely injured, but nothing is definitely known regarding the extent of her injuries. O’Donnell, who is charged with the murder of James Carey, the Irish ' informer, arrived at Plymouth from the Cape to-day, and will shortly be placed on trial. Nothing further has transpired regarding • the negotiations which are still proceeding ■ for the settlement of the Franco-Chiriese difficulty in Tonquin. After their interview with Earl Granville, the Marquis Tseng and M. Waddington left Walraer Castls for Paris, for the purpose, it is believed, of carrying on negotiations on the basis suggested by the British Minister for Foreign Affairs. PARIS, Sept 17, Challemel Lacour, Minister for Foreign Affairs, has received his conge, and will be replaced in that position by M. Ferry, - President of the Council of Ministers. The removal of M. Lacour is deemed an indication that the French Government desire to pursue a policy of peace,
