THE MAYORAL ELECTION.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib,—Councillor Taplin lias lost no time since being nominated for the Mayoralty, by soliciting in your last issue the suffrages of the Ratepayers in his favour, and I dare say Councillor Adams will probably follow the same course. Nevertheless I think it would be well if each candidate would address the Ratepayers in a public meeting, thereby giving a greater forecast of their individual views in matters municipal. It is usually followed in other municipalities, and 1 think would be very helpful to the Ratepayers in voting for the right man in the right place. —I am, &c., Aug. 27. Anxious.
