MR SHERWOOD'S POTTERY.
We have inspected the pipes turned out by Mr Sherwood, and are able to say that they are a very fair sample. The glazing was not successful, but a mistake was made, and ibis will be remedied in future. The clay is everything that could be desired, the pipes having n clear bright- ring. They are also smooth and well finished, and in these respects would be difficult to surpass anywhere. A quantity of fire-bricks-and squares, and a few articles of terra cotta were burned at the same time, and have come out excellently. The proof of the quality of the fire bricks may seen in the kiln, which is constructed of some made by Mr Sherwood, and in spite of the great beat to which they were subjected, they show no signs of breakage. Ample tost has now been given to the material, and there is no doubt that with proper glazing, pipes and other articles can be made that would command good prices in any market.
