PATEA WEST ROAD BOARD.

The Board met on Thursday. Present: Messrs Pearce, Parsons, Hunter, Bonrke, Morgan, Wilson and Campbell. The first business was the election of Chairman. Mr Pearce proposed, and Mr Parsons seconded, “Mr E. J. Morgan”; Mr Morgan proposed, Mr Bonrke seconded, “Mr Parsons.” Mr Hunter was .also proposed*butjbolh he and Mr Parsons declined, tp stand, and Mr Morgan was therefore unanimously elected. The Returning Officer wrote notifying the election of the Commissioners. The Board discussed the matter of the injury done to the Taumaha road, especially that part known as “ Peacock’s Cutting” through the carting of stone from the Beach by the County Council. It was resolved that the County Council be requested, in accordance with Clause 400, of the Road Boards Act, 1882, to have the Taumaha road repaired, as the traffic had been completely suspended, / Some refunds, amounting to £2 ss, were ordered to be paid to Messrs Wilson and Hunter, and it was resolved that members should adhere to the terms of a resolution passed on July 6, whereby not less than two members majy — authorise any expenditure under £§.J^f Mr P. Wilson was authorised* in conjunction with Mr Gibbs, to inspect and pass Hodges’ contracts 1, 2 and 3, for slumping on Ball road. Accounts, £6 12s 6d, were passed, and the Board adjourned.
