HAWERA COUNTY COUNCIL.
The Council met on Wednesday. Letters were read from Patea County Council, asking for payment of balance of £IOB due on the Manawapou bridge ; also from the same, requiring written agreement of the division of assets and liabilities as between Hawera and Patea County Councils. The chairman moved that the balance due to Patea Council, after paying the cost of the approaches to the Manawapou bridge, be handed over. But, after discussion, this was withdrawn in favour of the following:—Councillor York© moved, and Councillor Inkster seconded, That the Patea County Council be requested to authorise some members of their. Council to meet a committee of this council at Hawera, to arrange about accounts in abeyance between the two councils; and that minutes of the agreement originally entered be furnished as taken by the clerk of Patea Council; and that a copy of the return of outstanding rates due at the time of separation, and since collected by Patea Council, be also forwarded. . Councillor Finlayson moved, Councillor Godkin seconded, “ That a committee, consisting of Crs Partridge, Yorke and the chairman have power to arrange a date of meeting with Patea Council committee, and make a final settlement on behalf of this Council with Patea Council.”
