At the Borcugh Council me. tin.: on Wednesday Piter was read hom Mr Eyton, inviting suhs-Tiptions in aid of the Hospital. Councillor Pari ridge mover. ‘‘That the Council cannot support Patea Hospital. He said that the Inspector’s report was not at till favourable to that institution, and moreover, New Plymouth Hospital was far more convenient and had better doctors. It would be better to support that institution.” Councillor Adamson seconded, and the motion was carried unanimously. At the County Council a similar letter was road. Councillor Milne moved, That this Council cannot see its way to contribute towards the support of Patea hospital. Councillor Inkster seconded the motion, which was carried. It was pointed out that the accomodation at Patea was insufficient, and that the hospital inspector had recommended the hospital to be closed.
