A now loan of £1,000,000 is to be raised for public works. MELBOURNE, August 2. The Argus has despatched a special correspondent to Madagascar to report on the events in that country. Sir T. Mcllwraith, Premier of Queensland, has requested Mr -Service to

summon a convention of delegates from the various colonies to consider the annexation question. In the Assembly last night, Mr Service, in reply to n question, said that he believed some of the Irish informers were on board the steamship Patham, but confessed that he was non-plussed what to do in the matter.
