HARBOUR BOARD.
The following business was transacted after we went to press on Monday. ' With 'reference to a letter to Messrs, Wilkie Brothers re damage alleged to have been caused to one of the Board’s boats, by a shot fired at the rail way works, it ; was proposed by Mr Aitchison “ That the Secretary; .be authorised to take steps to recover the claim sent in for damage to the Pilot’s boat.” Seconded by Mr Adam's and carried; J ■ -•!' s pilot’s repoet. Cflie bar-is very good at present ' 9 straig-ht out from” the end of the breakwater with about ten feet at highwater. The channel at the end of the breakwater is about one hundred feet "wide, but these heavy westerly gales .are sending the west spit more across and will make the channel* narrow. 'lEVerything is in good working order at the station. . Beceived. WHARFINGER’S REPORT; ' ' The Wharfinger reported everything in working order.- - 'Receipts for the month were £BS 9s lid. r - Received. ! . s • - 5 pilot’s house. Mr Aitchison reported that the contract for the additions to the pilot’s house was finished. An iron top was required for one of the chimneys as it smoked badly at titties." ■ The report was adopted and it was, resolved to supply the chimney top. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Aitchison for drawing the plans and superintending the work. ■ ACCOUNTS. The following were passed Paul and Gunn, £49 4s 6d | C Bailey, £l7 4s 6d ; R Erskine, 12s 6d. SALE OF PLANT. On the motion of the Chairman it was decided to sell the whaleboat, surf-boat, a small boat and a punt belonging to the Board. HARBOUR BILL. A discussion took place over the new Harbour Board Bill, but no decision was arrived at. Consideration will be resumed at next meeting of the Board.
