We notice: that Mr W. L. Weiss, of St John’s College, Sussex, is organising classes for ordinary school work, and'also for the higher branches of Education, Mr Weiss a’so intends to open an evening school, and young men in Patea whose education has been neglected could not do better than attend. Mr Weiss is a scholar, and has made the subject of imparting instruction, so that the pupil may understand what he is learning, a life study. Address and particulars at Mr Kefcworthy’s.
Leases of Rural Land, 5 with Perpetual Right of Renewal, West Coast (North Island) . Land District. 2,264 Acres for Leasing, in the Opunake and Kaupokonui Districts, in sections varying from 106 to 314 acres, at an annual rental of from Is 6d to 2s 6d per acre, Crown Lands Office, Patea, Ist May, 1883. WRITTEN Tenders (in sealed covers) are invited for the undermentioned sections, in accordance with the provisions of “ The Land Act 1877 Amendment Act, 1882.” Conditions to he observed by Tenderers — The price tendered must be stated in writing, as well as in figures, accompanied by the statutory declaration reby the Act, together with six rent at the rate tendered, and the sum of £1 10s to pay for the lease and registration, to be lodged with the Commissioner.of Crown Lands at Patea not later than 4 o’clock on Tuesday, the 12th day of June, to be opened by the Commissioner of: Crown Lands at Patea, on Wednesday, the 13th day of June, :at 11 o’clock a.m., when the highest tenderer (if the [tenders shall equal or exceed the upset fixed annual rental per , acre) will be declared the lessee. Forms of tender and declaration can be obtained at any Crown Lands Office in the colony. Any person of the age of eighteen years and upwards may become a lessee under this system. In the event of any person tendering for two or more leases, the deposit of a sum equal to one-half year’s rent of the tender largest in amount shall be sufficient, together with the sura of £1 10s to pay for the lease and registration thereof, paid either in Cash, marked cheque, or bank draft, made payable to the Receiver of Land Revenue, Patea. Provided that if he be tendering for two or more leases, such as he may in the aggregate become the lessee of under the Act he must deposit one half years’s rent at the rate tendered for each such lease, and also an additional, 30s, as above mentioned, in each case. Limits of Area for each Lessee —
No lease shall be made to any person owning, nor shall any* person be capable of becoming,the lessee under a lease or a sub-lease who owns any freehold land, or land held under lease or license under the Crown whereby such person shall become either the owner, tenant, or occupier in the whole, either by himself or jointly with any other person or persons, including the lands comprised in the lease, of a greater area than 640 acres anywhere in the colony. The above land is situated near Opunake, and consists of fairly-level bush country ; soil good, and well watered. 2,615 Acres for Cash, in the Opunake District, in sections varying from 100 to 320 acres—at from £1 15s to £2 5s per acre. To be Sold for Cash, at Hawera, on Friday, the 15th day of June. > The above sections ,are of similar quality and description of soil to those opened for perpetual leasing. . Terms of Sale:—One-fourth of purchase money to be paid at sale, and the balance to the Receiver of Land Revenue, Patea or Hawera, within one calendar month from date of sale ; otherwise the deposit will be forfeited, and the contract for the sale of the land thenceforth be null and void. Grown grant fee to be paid on completion of purchase.
