Cattle.—At our Normanby yards on. the 9th May, very few yarded arid less sold. At Manaia the ’ yards were well filled, and all the male stock sold : lit?' th(| hammer/- those of the 'other sexnbeing' bard to place. At Patea on the 25tb, in the estate of James Hamilton, all the effects sold at good rates, except, the threshing mill and engine, which was secured by Mr Peat for £162 10s, and (he thoroughbred entire horse Governor, which was purchased by Mr R. E. Mcßae for £29. ' The Hawera yards on Thursday last were charac-
terised by the dullness of bidding, only two pens being disposed of at th'> hammer; but several changed hands afterwards privately. We quote weaners, 22s to 28s; yearlings, £2 to £2 5s ; 18-month-olds, £2 to £2 15s ; 2-year-old steers, £2 15s to £3 12s 6d; B-year-old bullocks, £4 10s ; store cows, £2 15s ; cows and calves, £2 15s to £3 7s fid. Sheep.—During the month there have been more entries, and a greater inquiry for a certain class of sheep, and most of those brought forward were easily disposed of. We quote—ewes, in lamb, 8s 4d to 10s 9d ; wethers, 11s fid to 12s 9d ; tat ewes, 11s fid ; shorn lambs, 5s 2d ; lambs in wool, 6s lOd to 7s 3d. Horses.—Have been dull of sale, but a enquiry ; for hacks of-a good description) also heavy 5 * unbroken draughts.
