THE GOVERNOR AT NAPIER.

[per PRESS .ASSOCIATION.] NAPIER, May 29. The Governor landed to-day, and was received by. the Mayor and Councillors and a large concourse of people. .The Volunteer companies, Artillery and Rifles, formed a guard of honor. The usual addresses were delivered, and much enthusiasm shown along the route from the port to the town. '• Arriving in Hastings' Street, the ; cortege was stopped to allow a Fire Brigade demonstration to be witnessed. This consisted of an arch of water from rteu jets on either side of the street. The Governor , was afterwards driven to the District School, when 400 children were drawn up anil, sang the. National Anthem. His Excellency afterwards visited the Hospital. To-night he will be entertained at'dinner by the xtiembers of the Hawke’s Bay Club, and be taken afterwards by special train > to Kiverslea, where the gubernatorial party will be the guests of Mr Thomas Tanner. /
