A CURIOUS FIX.

(per press association) GISBORNE, This day. The Ormond Road Board is in a curious fix. After the election of the Board, the Returning Officer scaled up the ballot papers' to be deposited for the year with the clerk of the R.M. court for safe custody, and by mistake also inclosed the rate rolls. The clerk cannot break the seals under a penalty of LSO, and under the circumstances the Highway Board can neither collect nor levy rates. The fact has caused ranch sensation.
