— [per .PRESS ASSOCIATION.] NEW PLYMOUTH, This day. - An enquiry was made on board the Hawea on Wednesday, on that vessel goipg ashore at Waitara, Lewis Noble, second mate, in his evidence, said, “ 1 called the captain a quarter of an hour before the vessel struck. He asked me if we had opened out the Sugar Loaves, I told him I could not see them. I thought we were two miles from land when the vessel struck.’
