(Received May 8, 1 a.m.) LONDON, May 7. The Australian section of the Fisheries Exhibition, which is shortly to be opened here, is being pushed forward. Various courts are already finally decorated, and exhibits are being unpacked and arranged without delay. H.R.H. the Prince of Wales will open the hew Royal College, of Music 'to-day.

(Received May 8, 3.15 p.m.) LONDON, May 7. The Royal College of Music was opened to-day by the Prince of Wales in the presence of a large and distinguished assemblage. The proceedings passed off with great eclat. In the course of his opening address, His Royal Highness took occasion to thank Sir W. J- Clarke and Sir Thomas Elder, of Australia, for their scholarships to the college. It is announced that Mr G. A. McFarren and Mr Arthur S. Sullivan, the well-known musicians, and Mr George Grove, have been knighted for their services in connection with the Royal College of Music.

(Received May 8, 3.15 p.m.) MELBOURNE, May 8. At a meeting held at the Town Hall last night in opposition to the opening of the Art Gallery and Museum on Sundays great disorder prevailed. SYDNEY, May 8.

Mr Alexander Stewart, Premier of New South Wales, has given notice of his intention to move at the Intercolonial Conference that each colony should act independently in regard to joining the Postal Union.
