A PROBLEM.
TO THE EDITOR Sir,—ln observing the eclipse of the sun on the morning of the 7th, .when the mobn? at tew minutes past r 8 had eclipsed about one-half the sun’s disc, the following problem was suggested to me:—
Given the diameter of a circle say 7, required the length of radius which fixed at circumference divides the area of circle into two equal parts. The problem, as far as 1 am aware, is original, and apparently very simple. Its insertion, and a solution by one of your mathematical readers,.would much oblige,—l am, &c.,
