WAIROA HIGHWAY BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Wairoa Highway Board was held on Saturday sth inst. ; Present, Wardens Johnston, Aiken, and McLean, Mt Johnston in the chair. The Treasurer’s balance was reported as follows General account, £ls 18s 4d ; block 8, £lO3 6s 7d ; block 9, dr £lO ; block 3, £37 6s 6,1 ; block 4, Omahini, £8 7s lOd. _ _ ■ The Foreman of Works sent in his report recommending the payment of several accounts. CORRESPONDENCE. j From Property Tax Office, informing the Board that the Valuation Roll was forwarded, and requesting acknowledgement , of same. From Audit Office, Wellington, informing the Treasurer that the balance-sheet was duly passed. From Registrar-General asking for certain statistics required for Government ; purposes. From Commissioner of Crown Lands; Patea, re reserving right of road through Section 2, Block, VIII. From Mr R. Garrett, re survey of Henson’s, Road. From Mr W. Wilson, re repairs on road leading to his property. ■ From Mr A. Dickie, asking for certain repairs oh Moturoa Road. From Rev. R. J. Allsworth, re compensation for land .taken for Okutuku Road, from Coghill’s property. From F Farr, complaining of gates across road leading to his property, and requesting the Board to remove them. ‘ The following accounts were passed for payment :—J Hughes, £ll ; Patea Mail, !£2 8s 3d ; D Bremner, 10s ; Hughes and Davis, £3l 10s ; E Thirling, 6s ; E G Ross, £7 14s. Resolved—“ That Mr Wilson’s letter be left over till return of foreman of works.” “ That Mr Farr’s, letter stand, over for one month.” “That the rate-book be made up to a period from April, Ist, 1883, to March 31st, 1884, the fate to be £d in the £, payable in one instalment on 15th June.” “ That a special meeting be held on Saturday, 26th inst., at 7 p.m., to .make a rate foV'the comiug year.
