■• • ‘ ~ NELSON, April 1(5. Francis James Hodson, who was formerly teller at the Nelson branch, of the National Bank, was charged at the Police Court with the larcency of 500 sovereigns, belonging to the Bank. Mr Black, the manager, stated that the money was missed in 1881, but there was no proof until October last. The accused admitted having received from him a bag containing 1000 sovereigns in error for one of 500. The accused also said he planted 300 sovereigns in Christchurch, and speculated with the remainder in hopes to repay the whole. He was committed for trial. Bail was allowed, himself in £SOO, and two sureties of £250 each.
