WELLINGTON - MANAWATU RAILWAY COMPANY.
(per press association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. At the first annual meeting of the Wellington-Manawatu Railway Company to-day, in the report the directors congratulated the shareholders on the satisfactory position of the affairs of the Company. Contracts had been let for the construction of Wellington-Long-burn Junction, amounting to £72,063, Several are finished, and others in progress. The survey of the line had advanced considerably, so that in two or three months tenders may be called for 28 miles. This will make 35 miles in progress of construction. The report was adopted. Messrs J. Plummer and Shannon were elected directors.
