MEETINGS OF CREDITORS.
A meeting of creditors in the estate of Mr W. Dixon was held at the Courthouse this afternoon. Present—Messrs Haywood, Doneghue, Cowern; representing Mr Spence, J D* Hamertdn; representing Mr Caplen of Hawera, *E C Horner, Tennent, Gibson, &c., &c. Mr Horner was voted to the chair. Mr Dean,, Clerkof, the Court,.said that since the declaration he had received a letter from Mr P; Scanling, stating that he held goods of debtors, amounting to £ls, upon which he had a claim of £2O for rent. The statement of assets and liabilities Was then read. After a short discussion upon the affairs of the estate, Mr Tennent moved, and it was carried, “ That Mr E C Horner be appointed trustee.” The Chairman suggested that the trustee should be authorised to get an overdraft against the assets of the estate. Mr Tennent pointed out . that no bank would, make an .advance except on a guarantee. It was proposed, seconded, and agreed: to, T “ That Mr Dixon should be allowed all his furniture.” - r Mr Cowern proposed, “That, the' Bank of New South W ales be the bank in which all monies shall be deposited in the event of the other banks declining! to make an advance to purchase the bill! of sale.” ;; ■' - !V : \ Seconded by, Mr Gibson, and,carried. ■Mr Gibson proposed, ’ “ Thlat' "the I Trustee’s remuneration be five per cent.; on monies received for distributing amongst the;creditors.” Seconded by Mr Cowern, and carried.; On the proposition of Mr Haywood,l it was resolved to grant Mr Dixon his ; discharge at once. * The Trustee was directed to file the; necessary statements, and register him-: self as proprietor of the leasehold pre-l mises of the debtor. The proceedings then terminated. (per press association.) WELLINGTON, To-day. i A meeting of creditors in the estate of ; Henry Mace, was held to-day. The; liabilities are £15,142; assets, £23,493,1 as filed. Messrs T. K. Mac Donald and; James Kirton were appointed trustees.; Considerable sympathy was expressed; for, insolvent, whose loss was attributed; to land speculation. It was unanamously : resolved to allow him to retain his : household furniture and effects.
