It is ...understood I that Mete King, Putiki, a Wanganui 'loyal 'chief,' called this day upon,,T,his the Governor to welcome him to New Zealand, arid to request that His Excellency would attend a large gathering of the natives at Wanganui during the first week in April, whereat, among other topics, the Treaty of Waitangi will be t discussed. A large number of Ngapnbi, it was stated, have accepted an invitation to be present, and natives from the various New Zealand tribes are expected. It is believed that, in the . event of the meeting taking.place, His Excellency will give his answer Whether he will attend or hot.
