STILL HARPING ON THOSE DRAIN PIPES.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,— ln your issue of 19th “ Gian Aber,” alias the Fire-eater, wails at this poor Factotum for telling him the truth ; wgll, after all, he really should not, for truth, even though it be- unpleasant, often works out an exceeding amount of good. ' If.it will soothe “ Gian's ’’ ruffled spirits ;to raise him to the r6le of solicitor, doctor, or what not, for my, part I shall not object in the least; in fact I think be is fairly entitled to the honour of “ doctor,” -he having once said in my hearing that, in the former part of ; his career, he, being in want of employment, and seeing an advertisement, asking applications for doctor or. dispenser on a large station, employing 60 or 100 hands, he applied and succeeded in securing the situation as a full fledged doctor, but, in his modest, unassuming manner, he added, “ I took jolly good care’ to administer nothing but salts, dun ye see.” Now Gian is a fairly good boy, but wants a little managing to- prevent his becoming irremediably incorrigible, and, in the tempest, or I may say, tornado of his passions, he might overstep-Jhe mark of propriety and disgrace us alh i But if we can only manage to train him up in.the way he should go we have then still some hopes that he may turn out to be a useful member of society. Yours, &c., Factotum. .
