March 14. In the House of Commons to-day Mr Parnell, introduced a .[motion setting forth that further amendment of the Irish Land Act is necessary. Mr Gladstone stated that be absolutely refused to agree to further legislation in the direction stated, and after sorae'debate the motion was negatived by 250 to 63 votes.

The offices were completely wrecked, much damage was caused to the: building l , bnd thousands of windows .in the vicinity shattered, Fortunately no ?onc has- been injured. One man has-been arrested in connection with the outrage, which it is supposed was committed as an act of vengeance for the rejection by the; House of Commons of Mr Parnell’s demand for an amendment of the Irish Land Act.^ A box of explosive material was discharged last night in the neighbourhood of the Times office, but there was no damage done. (Received March 16, 11 p.m.) March 16. The election for the vacancy jn the .representation of Midcheshir.e in the House of Commons has ; resulted in-the return of the Hon. Egestion by a jarge majority over Mr Latham, a -Liberal candidate. The Spanish Government has refused to release certain refugees who were handed over to the Spanish authorities by a mistake on the -part of. a British Magistrate at Gibraltar last NEW YORK, March 14. Mr Egan, treasurer of the-Irish Land League, has arrived here. He denies that he has.flown from Ireland,, and that the' funds of the League have been.employed in connection with: the Irish outrages. March 15. Mr Egan is now conferring with the prominent supporters of the Irish Land League in this country. . ST PETERSBURG, March 14. MakofF, the Russian statesman, has committed suicide. There are suspicions that he had been guilty of peculation in the department of the‘service-of which he was State Secretary.
