AUSTRALIAN. [REUTER. —COPYRIGHT.] (Received March 16, 1 a.m.) MELBOURNE, March 15. An accident occurred at Clunes today, on the North Western Railway, through the pointsman turning the train on to the wrong line. Several passengers were injured, but no fatalities are reported. (Received March 15, 7.15 p.m.) Pfofessor Ellery- reports that the operations at Singapore, Port Darwin, Adelaide, and Melbourne, for determining longitudes of Australia, have been completely successful. ALBANY, March 15. The P. and O. steamship Australia, with the inward Suez mail, dated London, 9th February, arrived in King George’s Sound last evening. (Received March 15, 7-15 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 15. The Legislative Assembly has passed, by a very large majority, a vote of £150,000 for immigration purposes. A walking match between O’Leary and Edwards, for £2OO, has commenced here. Edwards is far ahead, a position he has maintained for some time since the commencement of the contest.
